Today's post is going to be a little explanation on the name of my blog. When I was first considering starting to blog one of the hardest parts was coming up with a name. I wanted something catchy and cute. I had a whole list of names and none of them seemed to fit. Then one day I realized that none of those names worked because it wasn't me. I am not a super fancy person, I don't have a lot of super fancy things. When I cook for my husband I make pretty basic things, when I get dressed I wear very basic outfits, I am very simple. So The Simple Wife seemed to fit perfectly. When I first told the name to my husband he asked "doesn't the word simple have a negative connotation?" My immediate answer was "NO!" because I was a little offended that he didn't immediately love the name! After thinking about it further I realized that maybe it does have a bit of a negative connotation, but it shouldn't. I think in today's social media focused culture we feel like we need to be perfect all the time. We only post pictures online of when we are best dressed or when we go to the coolest places, everything needs to look fabulous. The problem is that that is not reality. I often find myself looking at social media and comparing myself to others. I see all the cute outfits and I feel bad about myself because I usually wear T-shirt and jeans. So I wanted to create this blog and call it The Simple Wife to share my journey as a young wife who is not very extravagant but rather very "normal" and "simple" and that is okay!

With Love,

The Simple Wife
