Today I have an exciting yet terrifying announcement to share with you all. If you follow me on Instagram then you already know, I have decided to go to college! If you know me, you know I wasn’t planning on going to college. For a long time, I really thought that was true. Before, I had no desire or need to college. However, over the last year God has been changing my heart and I feel I’m being called to something greater.

The reason I never wanted to go to college, was because I always had the strong desire to be a stay at home mom. This is still a very strong desire and I do plan on staying home with my children someday. However, over the last few years I have really become interested with the process of pregnancy and birth, more so than just having my own. I feel the Lord has put a tug in my heart to become a midwife and assist women during the process of pregnancy, and help them to deliver the way they want. I am excited to start on this journey and see what the future holds for me! To tell you a little bit about what this process looks like for me, I will be taking online classes for the next two years. My husband is also in college and taking classes on a college campus in Florida. The University when he attends also happens to be where I work a full time job, because of this I am taking my classes online until he graduates in the spring of 2020. After Hubby graduates, I plan to enroll in the nursing program and complete all my required classes in the year 2022. I will be graduating with a BSN and from there will have to complete more classes to become a certified midwife. This is going to be a long road but I really feel like this is where I am meant to go. I am so excited to get started on this journey and share

it with all of you!

So you might be wondering what a midwife is, or what a midwife does. A midwife is a fully trained medical professional that does prenatal care, delivers babies and handles your postpartum care. Usually a midwife works out of what is called a birth center. A birth center is a place that is set up to feel like your home, where you can deliver your baby. Usually they have beds and tubs and all the things your home would have. Midwives also deliver babies in your actual home! This is called a home-birth, and it has become increasingly more popular over the last few years. Having a home-birth allows you to have more control over your labor and birth process. I believe that having a child is a very personal choice and the way you decide to birth that child should be up to you. I love the idea of home birth because it allows women the opportunity to let their body labor they way it was naturally designed to do. This something I have been and am still very passionate about. I can not wait until I get to help bring children into this world!

If you have any questions about midwives, home birth, birth centers, please feel free to contact me and I will gladly answer as many questions as I can. I can also recommend some great resources that I found very helpful for understanding this process.

I can’t wait to continue on this journey and to share it with you all!
